16-Year-Old Student and Dog Found Shot Dead in North Carolina Home

A North Carolina community is grieving after a 16-year-old boy and his dog were found shot to death inside a home, in what authorities are investigating as a homicide.

Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence along New Walkertown Road just before 6 a.m. over the weekend. When they arrived, they discovered the teenager and his pet dog suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Jayden Livingston, a student who had recently enrolled at West Stokes High School in neighboring Stokes County.

School officials confirmed Livingston joined the school earlier this year and said his death has deeply impacted students and staff. The district has since deployed counselors and additional support services to help the school community cope with the tragedy.

“This is a heartbreaking situation,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Rice said in a statement, emphasizing the district’s commitment to supporting students during the difficult time.

Friends and community members have also begun honoring the teen’s life. His football coach described him as a strong player, a leader, and someone who uplifted his teammates both on and off the field.

Authorities have released few details about what led to the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Investigators say the case remains active and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough called the killing a senseless act of violence, saying the case raises serious concerns about community safety and morality.

As the investigation continues, the loss of the teenager and his dog has left a lasting mark on both Forsyth and Stokes counties, with many calling for justice and answers in the days ahead.
