Authorities have identified a Greenville man whose body was discovered burned and wrapped in a tarp along a roadway last month.
The Greenville Police Department identified the deceased as Robert Elliott, of Greenville. Investigators said Elliott’s body was found near the 1500 block of Thornton Street on July 21, 2026, after a passerby reported seeing the body alongside the road.
Police said the body had been wrapped in a tarp and burned. The circumstances surrounding Elliott’s death remain under investigation.
Detectives are currently processing available evidence, following investigative leads and working to determine what happened to Elliott and how he died, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional details about a possible motive or announced any arrests in connection with the case.
