Tyler Perry Offers To Pay For Rayshard Brooks’ Funeral Expenses And His 4 Children College Educations

After 27-year old Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by Atlanta police in a Wendy’s parking lot last Friday, Tyler Perry wanted to do something to help the family during this difficult time.

According to attorney L. Chris Stewart, the filmmaker has offered to pay the funeral expenses for Brooks.

The family lawyer made the announcement during a press conference.

“We do want to acknowledge and thank Tyler Perry, who we spoke with and who will be taking care of the funeral for the family,” Stewart said. “It’s support like that and it’s people who are actually in this community, that love the community, that want healing, and [want] families like this to never have to go through something like this. It’s a step forward.”

He added, “We want to thank him for such a generous move,” he added.

Funeral arrangements haven’t been released at this time. We will definitely keep you informed.

PEOPLE exclusively reports that Tyler has also offered to pay college educations for all 4 of Brooks’ children.

Brooks is survived by his wife, Tomika Miller, and four children: Dream, 1, Memory, 2, Blessing, 8, and Mekai, 13.

Thank you Tyler Perry for being a blessing to the family.
