Tika Sumpter is preparing for a new role. The Have and the Have Nots actress will be starring in HBO Max’s psychological thriller The Ancestor.
Tika shared the news on Instagram.
Actor Michael B. Jordan will also take part of the film as a producer, partnering with Alana Mayo of the Outlier Society.
According to Daytime Confidential, HBO Max won the spec auction for the script written by Kay Oyegun. The This Is Us scribe developed the story based on an idea she shared with Sumpter.
Deadline described Sumpter’s role as “an African American female med student who finds herself in a timely psychological thriller premise in the tradition of Get Out.“
