New Jersey Councilwoman, Eunice Dwumfour, Found Shot Dead Outside Her Home

Eunice Dwumfour, a New Jersey Republican Councilwoman, was unfortunately found dead inside her car on Wednesday night. Reports say that the 30-year-old was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dwumfour lived in the townhome complex where she was killed. No motive for the shooting was immediately disclosed and police did not say if any arrests have been made.

According to the Sayreville Council’s website, Dwumfour was serving a term from 2022-2024. Additionally, Dwumfour was a member of the Human Relations Commission in Sayerville. According to AP news, she was recently married to a member of the Champions Royal Assembly in August and leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter.

Governor Phil Murphy released a statement saying that he was “stunned” by the news of her killing:

Additionally, the Mayor of Sayreville released a statement saying that she was “shocked and saddened” to learn of Dwumfour’s death. Saying she was “taken from us by a despicable criminal act.” She and Dwumfour worked closely together on the council, she wrote. “On a personal note, I can’t adequately express my feeling of sorrow at the loss of a friend.”
