Larry King, Broadcasting Legend, Dies At 87

Legendary TV and radio host Larry King has died after battling COVID-19.

According to Ora Media (a company King co-founded), he passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

King was diagnosed with COVID-19 over the holidays and at some point had to be sent to ICU. He was eventually moved to a regular room and was breathing on his own, but then things took a turn for the worst and he died Saturday.

King has left a great legacy behind. From his beginnings on local radio in Miami to his popular CNN series Larry King Live, King sat across the table from nearly every politician, Hollywood star and major author. He conducted over 40,000 interviews in his 60-year career span. He’s also published over 20 books.

He interviewed public figures such as: Former President Barack Obama, Mike Tyson, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Jerry Seinfeld, Prince, Former President Bill Clinton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Throughout his career, King coped with several ailments — mostly heart problems, but he’d always come back stronger than ever.

Larry King, real name Lawrence Harvey Zeiger, has been married 8 times. He married Freda Miller (1952), Annette Kaye (1961), Alene Akins (1961), Mickey Sutphin (1963), Alene again (1967), Sharon Lepore (1976), Julie Alexander (1989) and Shawn (1997). He filed for divorce from Shawn in 2019.

He recently lost two children in July 2020. His son Andy King, 65, unexpectedly passed away of a heart attack, while his daughter Chaia King, 52, died just weeks later from lung cancer.

King is survived by 5 children … CannonChanceDannyKelly and Larry Jr. He was 87.

Funeral arrangements and a memorial service will be announced later in coordination with the King family.
