Breonna Taylor Jurors File Petition To Impeach Kentucky Attorney General

Three former grand jurors in the Breonna Taylor case has filed a petition, along with other citizens, to impeach Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

The citizens filed a petition Friday seeking the impeachment of Cameron on charges of “breach of public trust and failure to comply with duties for misrepresenting to the nation the findings of the Grand Jury” and “abuse of office and breach of duties of professional responsibility and ethics.”

The petition was produced following the lack of charges filed against the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department officers implicated in the death of Breonna Taylor in September.

“These are randomly selected citizens who were compelled to sit on a grand jury and were terribly misused by the most powerful law enforcement official in Kentucky,” said citizens attorney Kevin Glogower.

According to CNN, some of the grand jurors said they weren’t given the opportunity to consider homicide charges and at least one of the grand jurors said that Cameron’s public statements about the grand jury involved in the case have been misleading.

The petition is also demanding that Cameron be charged for inciting the January 6 riot at the Capitol. In addition, they’re also accusing him of misusing taxpayer dollars by joining an effort by Republican attorneys general supporting a lawsuit that argued that absentee votes should not be counted during an election after the polls close.

Ben Crump, the attorney representing Taylor’s family, praised the petitioners.

“We encourage the House committee to seriously review this petition and hold AG Cameron accountable for his role in misleading the public and the grand jurors, and denying justice for Breonna Taylor and her family,” Crump said in a statement on Friday.
