Crunch Fitness has announced a major leadership transition, naming President Chequan Lewis as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Lewis succeeds longtime CEO Jim Rowley, who will now serve as Executive Chairman as the company continues its rapid global expansion.
The announcement was made during Crunch Fitness’ 2026 Global Franchise Convention in San Antonio, the largest franchise gathering in the company’s history. Company leaders described the move as part of a long-term succession plan designed to support the brand’s continued growth.
Lewis joined Crunch Fitness as president in 2024 after serving as Chief Operating Officer of Pizza Hut U.S. During his tenure at Crunch, he has worked closely with Rowley to oversee significant expansion, operational improvements, and new innovations across the fitness brand. Together, the leadership team helped grow Crunch into a $1.5 billion system with more than 550 locations serving approximately 3.5 million members worldwide.
“I’m honored to step into the CEO role and continue building on the strong foundation we’ve created together,” Lewis said, noting that the company’s success has been driven by collaboration with franchise partners and employees throughout the organization.
Rowley, who has led Crunch Fitness through a period of remarkable expansion, said the transition reflects the company’s confidence in Lewis’ leadership and its vision for the future. As Executive Chairman, Rowley will continue to support the company’s strategic direction while Lewis oversees day-to-day operations.
Crunch Fitness has experienced significant momentum in recent years, introducing new fitness concepts, expanding internationally, and attracting new investment while strengthening its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing fitness franchises. Company officials say the leadership change is intended to ensure that momentum continues in the years ahead.
