A new development has emerged in the ongoing legal battle surrounding the estate of late actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
Warner’s mother, Pamela Warner, has reached a settlement with the guardians representing her granddaughter, the late actor’s daughter, regarding the child’s inheritance from her father’s estate. The agreement has not yet been approved by the court.
According to Pamela, the settlement provides that her granddaughter will receive the majority of the remaining Trust and Estate. The agreement also includes provisions for the child’s college tuition and a share of the estate.
Pamela said the resolution was reached with the child’s representatives because she believes it is in her granddaughter’s best interest. She also expressed hope that the agreement will help preserve the relationship between her and her granddaughter.
The settlement comes weeks after Warner’s widow, Tenisha Warner, filed legal action against Pamela over the late actor’s estate. Tenisha had alleged that her daughter was being wrongfully excluded from financial support following Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s death.
Pamela has pushed back against those claims, saying it was untrue that she sought to prevent her granddaughter from receiving financial support. She maintains that her son was deliberate about providing for the people he loved, but that those provisions were structured separately.
Pamela acknowledged that Malcolm’s older trust named her, his father and his sister as beneficiaries. However, she said the actor made separate financial arrangements for his wife and daughter that were worth millions of dollars.
Tenisha’s legal dispute reportedly involved financial obligations connected to a 2022 prenuptial agreement, including an alleged $1 million life-insurance obligation. Court filings have placed the amount she was seeking at approximately $1.27 million.
At this time, Tenisha has not publicly weighed in on the newly announced settlement, and TMZ reports that she does not appear to have participated in the negotiations between Pamela and the guardians representing her daughter. Pamela said she remains hopeful that everyone involved will ultimately support the agreement.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, died at age 54 in July 2025 after an accidental drowning in Costa Rica. He left behind his wife and their daughter.
With court approval still pending, the settlement could represent a significant step toward resolving the dispute over Warner’s estate and securing his daughter’s financial future.
