2-Year Old Boy Hit By Car Christmas Night Dies From Injuries

A 2-year old boy who was hit by a car on Christmas night in Garner, North Carolina died Tuesday morning from his injuries.

The Raleigh parents are now mourning the loss of their oldest child Tremaine Jones, Jr.

Junior’s mother, Antwaney Johnson, told WRAL, “It’s unbearable. I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy. It makes you look at life completely different.”

Investigators said the little boy ran out into the street while family members were loading their car along the side of the road. A 63-year old woman struck Junior with her car.

The tragedy happened after a Christmas celebration around 10 p.m.

Junior was then taken to WakeMed with life-threatening injuries before being transferred to UNC Medical Center.

The driver stayed on scene, and investigators indicate that it doesn’t look like speed or impairment was involved. Detectives say the investigation is still ongoing, and it’s too early to know if charges will be filed.

Junior’s mom shared advice to all parents. “You just gotta be aware. If you’re not aware…Something can get taken from you in a heartbeat.”

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to pay for funeral expenses.

Sending condolences to the family. Rest in sweet peace, Junior.
