Whoopi Goldberg tested positive for COVID-19 and was unable to be present for the first episode of “The View” following the holidays.
Her co-host Joy Behar shared the news on air.
Whoopi’s positive test comes in the midst of the omicron variant’s surge nationwide. As Joy stated, Whoopi caught COVID during the holidays, which caused her to miss the Dec. 15 and 16 tapings. She appeared on the shows Dec. 17 holiday special that was pre-taped.
Joy and other co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and guest host Ana Navarro – appeared remotely from their homes today in what is expected to be a temporary return to the COVID shutdown format.
Whoopi is expected to be return to the show next week.
