Tyler Perry Hints He’s Geared To Hiring New Directors And Writers

Earlier this year, Tyler Perry shared a post on Instagram that was meant to be inspirational but instead received much criticism. The filmmaker revealed that he doesn’t have a writer’s room and that left many followers wondering why wouldn’t he give young writers an opportunity.

Tyler defended his method by saying the audience knows his voice and when he tried to give young writers opportunities, his ratings went down.

Now Tyler is singing another tune. According to Michelle Sneed, the president of production and development at Tyler Perry Studios, Tyler has plans for upcoming filmmakers that includes directors and writers.

She told Variety:

“We’re super excited about the young, up-and-coming filmmakers and new writers that we’re working with,” she says. “Tyler has solidified his place in the industry; his brand is amazing, and we’ll continue to grow that. Then on the other side, we’re working on promoting, providing a platform and advocating for this new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.”
