Showtime has put in an order for The Wood comedy series. The show will be based off the 1999 romantic film that starred actors Omar Epps, Richard T. Jones, and Taye Diggs.

The Wood is an honest look at friendship and dating from the perspective of three young Black males born and raised in the L.A. suburb of Inglewood.

The new romantic comedy series will showcase the humor and heart of young Black men and women trying to navigate life, love and likes on the ’Gram.

According to Deadline, Rick Famuyiwa, who co-wrote and directed the film, will direct the pilot and executive produce with Justin Hillian.

The Wood’s pilot will be a production of Paramount Television Studios.

There’s no word on casting and a premiere date yet.
