Pregnant Georgia Mother and Unborn Baby Killed in ATV Crash, Family Urges Riders to Wear Helmets

A Georgia family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a young mother and her unborn child after a tragic ATV crash in DeKalb County.

According to family members, 28-year-old Domunique Kindred was riding an ATV near her home in Lithonia when she swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle. During the maneuver, the ATV struck a mailbox and a parked vehicle before flipping over, throwing Kindred from the vehicle. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. She was rushed to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her unborn baby also did not survive.

Kindred’s death has devastated her loved ones, who say she was entering an exciting new chapter in life. She had recently graduated from cosmetology school, discovered she was expecting her third child, and had been preparing to get married over Father’s Day weekend. She leaves behind her 4-month-old son, Kanan, and her 5-year-old son, Yosiah.

Her sister, Alexis Kindred, described Domunique as someone who brought joy to everyone around her, remembering her as a funny, caring person who always found a way to make others smile, even during difficult times.

The family now hopes their unimaginable loss will encourage others to take ATV safety seriously. They believe wearing a helmet could have saved Domunique’s life. Her father, Ralph Kindred, revealed he was actually on his way to bring her two helmets when the crash happened.

Authorities have not released additional details about the oncoming vehicle that Kindred reportedly swerved to avoid, and it remains unclear whether any charges will be filed as the investigation continues.

To help with funeral expenses and honor Domunique’s memory, the family has established a GoFundMe fundraiser while continuing to spread an important message: always wear a helmet when riding an ATV or similar vehicle.
