Pastor and author Sarah Jakes Roberts is recovering in the hospital after suffering a serious neck injury during a trampoline accident that nearly left her paralyzed.
According to reports, the 37-year-old spiritual leader was playing on a trampoline with her young daughter when she landed directly on her neck. She later revealed that she immediately heard several “pops” upon impact, prompting a frantic call for emergency assistance.
Roberts was rushed to the hospital, where doctors conducted multiple scans and discovered that she had fractured her neck and sustained herniated discs. Medical professionals also warned that the injury came dangerously close to causing paralysis, underscoring the severity of the incident.
In a message shared publicly, Roberts described the frightening moment, saying she was “almost paralyzed,” but expressed gratitude that her condition was not worse. She is now expected to wear a neck brace for four to six weeks as part of her recovery process and plans to rest while healing.
The accident highlights the risks associated with trampoline use, as such activities can lead to serious injuries, including fractures and spinal damage, when landings go wrong.
Roberts, the daughter of renowned bishop T. D. Jakes, currently serves as co-senior pastor of The Potter’s House alongside her husband. Her injury comes after a challenging period for the family, following her father’s widely reported health scare in recent years.
As she begins her recovery, supporters and followers across social media have been sending prayers and well-wishes for her healing.
