Mother And 16-Year-Old Arrested For Killing Her 3 Young Children

A mother admitted to killing her three young children with the help of her 16-year-old son in their West Hills home.

On Sunday morning (Mother’s Day), Los Angeles Police went to the home after receiving a call of an assault with a deadly weapon. As they went inside the house, they found three children dead—12-year-old Natalie, 8-year-old Nathan, and 10-year-old Kevin.

Officers told CBSLA Reporter Joy Benedict that the victims appeared to be dead for several hours, and suspected that they had died at some point on Saturday.

Police have not said how the children were killed or in what condition they were found.

The children’s mother, 38-year-old Angela Dawn Flores was arrested and charged with three counts of murder. She is being held on a $6 million bail in Van Nuys Jail. The teen, whose identity is being sealed, was arrested on one count of murder and is being held without bail at Sylmar Juvenile Hall.

According to CBS News, the 16-year-old is Flores’ son and he told neighbors that the victims were his siblings. She also has older kids, according to the report.

The news outlet also said that the neighbors told them the mother of the children had been acting erratically on Saturday night. She was heard screaming, yelling, praying, and lighting candles at other homes on the street.

ABC 7 Los Angeles reports:

Neighbors say the family had only moved into the home about three months ago but often heard arguments and screaming, including the night before the children were found.

“I kept hearing ‘my family is abusing me’ and (I) just kept hearing screaming but I couldn’t make out what she was saying,” said neighbor Prisila Canales.

Blanca Hernandez lives next door and was home Saturday night when Flores began acting erratically on her front lawn, so she called 911. Flores was taken to the hospital for mental health reasons.

Canales lives just two houses down from the scene of the tragedy. She detailed the moments that the mother was taken away from the scene on a stretcher.

“She kept popping up, jumping up saying, ‘Where’s my Bible? Where’s my Bible?” she said.

It was seven hours later that the 16-year-old son went to another neighbors home and said his brothers and sister were unresponsive. That’s when police found them dead.

A motive hasn’t been revealed but the investigation is still ongoing.
