Mo’Nique and Lee Daniels End Feud, She’ll Star In Netflix’s ‘Demon House’

After 13 years of not speaking, actress Mo’Nique and film director Lee Daniels have ended their beef.

According to Deadline, Mo’Nique has been tapped by Lee to replace Octavia Spencer in Netflix’s thriller Demon House. Octavia had to bow out of the star-studded film because of a scheduling conflict with her Apple TV+ television show Truth Be Told.

In the film, Mo will play the role of a social worker who helps a family through a series of exorcisms.

Demon House is based on the haunting story of Latoya Ammons and her family, which was widely reported in the US back in 2014. The movie will star pop artist Andra Day. Lee rewrote the script from earlier drafts and will direct the horror picture. He is also one of the producers.

This will be the first project he and Mo’Nique work on since their successful film Precious, which Mo won an Oscar for. This will also be the first production Mo’Nique has done since she filed a lawsuit against Netflix in 2019. The comedian claimed racial and gender discrimination for trying to drastically underpay her for a stand-up special after offering other stars tens of millions of dollars.

The Netflix film isn’t the only offer Mo’Nique has received. Rapper and TV producer 50 Cent shared a series of Instagram posts last month indicating that he will put Mo in one of his shows.

It’s nice to see things are turning around for Mo’Nique.

No word on a release date for Demon House, but we’ll keep y’all updated.
