Mom Allegedly Killed 12-Year Old Son Over Missing Memory Card, Dad Reveals Mental Illness

A woman has been charged with fatally shooting her 12-year old son in their Chicago home on Saturday.

According to reports, Fallon Harris allegedly murdered her son Kaden Ingram over a missing memory card.

12-year old shot by mom.

The 37-year old mother confronted the young boy about 10:15 Saturday morning about the whereabouts of a digital memory card she had removed from her vehicle the previous night, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Eugene Wood.

After he was unable to produce the memory card, his mother demanded it at gunpoint but when he wasn’t able to produce it, she shot him. Reports also say that when Harris realized her son was still alive, she shot him a second time.

A witness found young Kaden unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head about 10:30 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harris was immediately taken into custody and is being held without bond.

Kaden’s father has spoken out since the tragedy and defended Harris, calling her actions a result of mental illness.

In his grief, he wants this tragedy to highlight the seriousness of mental illness.

“People need to know that mental illness is real,” Lavell Ingram said.

“His mom is a loving mom. She loved him more than she loved anything in the world,” Ingram said.

Family members said Harris was struggling mentally and say she just saw a therapist the day before the shooting.

“He was the joy of my life,” said Kaden’s dad. “He was everything a father could want in a child.”

Harris is due in court Monday. The judge also signed a health care order allowing her to be evaluated.
