Legendary Gospel Singer LaShun Pace Has Passed Away
Award-winning Gospel artist LaShun Pace has died at the age of 60. Her family shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram page.
LaShun’s sister, Lydia Pace told 11Alive’s Shiba Russell that the legendary Gospel Singer was on dialysis for 5 years and have been waiting on a kidney. She died Monday morning from organ failure in a Metro Atlanta hospital.
LaShun, who is an Atlanta native, started her singing career with her siblings in the legendary group The Anointed Pace Sisters. The sisters are Phyllis Pace, June Pace–Martin, Melonda Pace, Dejuaii Pace, Leslie Pace, Latrice Pace, Evangelist Dr. Duranice Pace, Lydia, and LaShaun. The Grammy-nominated group began singing in church and local talent shows.
The group released five albums from 1992 until 2009. After making hits such as “Be A Fence,” and “If I Be Lifted Up,” LaShun then broke out with a solo album.
She made more hits like “I Know I’ve Been Changed,” and “There’s a Leak in This Old Building.” Her 1996 hit “Act Like You Know,” recently became a TikTok trend.
LaShun is mostly remembered by loved ones for her kind heart. She even became close friends with filmmaker Tyler Perry. During their friendship, Tyler did a good deed for LaShun’s mother Bettie Ann Pace by gifted her a house. The matriarch of the family’s dying wish was to become a homeowner. She passed away in 2020 at the age of 82.
LaShun is the third death in the family. The oldest of the sisters Duranice passed away January 2021.
LaShun was the 5th oldest of all the siblings and was considered the trailblazer of the family.
She leaves behind seven sisters and her 28-year old daughter Aarion Mychkiel Rhodes. Sending condolences to the family. Rest in heaven, legendary queen.
