Joe, Fred Hammond, Floetry, and More Announced for NPR Tiny Desk’s Black Music Month Celebration

Neo-soul legends Floetry, gospel icon Fred Hammond, and R&B favorite Joe are among the major artists set to perform exclusive NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts in Washington, D.C., as part of a special celebration honoring Black Music Month this June.

The exciting collaboration between NPR Music and BET will spotlight a wonderful lineup of influential Black artists spanning R&B, hip-hop, gospel, neo-soul, and alternative music throughout June 2026 in celebration of Black Music Month.

R&B legend Joe Thomas, better known simply as Joe, is officially making his Tiny Desk Concert debut as part of the Black Music Month celebration. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, known for timeless hits including “I Wanna Know,” “All the Things (Your Man Won’t Do),” and “Stutter,” is expected to deliver a soulful and nostalgic performance for longtime fans.

Fresh off their highly anticipated “Say Yes” reunion tour, neo-soul duo Floetry — featuring Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart — will also make their long-awaited Tiny Desk debut together. Fans can expect signature spoken-word poetry, rich harmonies, and beloved classics like “Say Yes” and “Floetic.”

Gospel music powerhouse Fred Hammond is also stepping behind the famous Tiny Desk. Known for his groundbreaking work in gospel music as a singer, songwriter, producer, and bassist, Hammond is expected to bring uplifting praise, masterful arrangements, and energetic worship to the special June lineup.

The NPR Music Tiny Desk series is paying tribute to BET and Black music culture with a stacked lineup that celebrates generations of influential artists. Additional performers announced for the Black Music Month takeover include:
