Body of Missing 2-Year-Old Found In Alligator’s Mouth, Father Charged

A Florida 2-year-old, Taylen Mosley, has been found deceased after a statewide amber alert search.

NBC News reports that the child’s body was spotted in an alligator’s mouth, and a detective shot and killed the animal. The alligator was located 10 miles away from his home near Lake Maggiore.

“We didn’t want to find him this way, but at least we can bring some closure to that family now,” St. Petersburg Police Chief Holloway said at a news conference. Additionally, he said his body was found intact.

The child was first reported missing on Thursday after they found his mother, Pashun Jeffrey, 20, dead in her apartment. She had been stabbed multiple times, Holloway said Friday. Her family had initially called for a welfare check on her after failing to get in touch with her.

Reports say that the mother and child were last seen alive on Wednesday and Thursday.

The child’s father, Thomas Mosley, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, according to NBC.

He checked himself into a hospital due to cuts on his hands and he remained hospitalized on Friday. Additionally, he has not spoken to detectives and requested to have lawyers represent him.

The cause of death for the child has not been revealed.
