Quarterback, Lamar Jackson, agreed to a $260M contract with the Baltimore Ravens. This deal makes him the highest-paid NFL player ever!
The NFL Network first reported this 5-year deal and it comes with a guaranteed $185 million. This contract comes a week after it was reported that Jalen Hurts signed a $255 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Ravens posted a video of Jackson on Twitter showing his excitement about the extension.
“You know, for the last few months, there’s been a lot of he’s said, she’s said,” Jackson said in a video. “A lot of nail-biting, a lot of head scratching going on, but for the next five years, it’s a lot of flock going on. Lamar Jackson acknowledged his mother amid the accomplishment. His mother, Felicia Jones, acted as his advisor and helped him ink this deal with the Ravens. Luckily, he will get to avoid the 3% agent fee and give the $7.8 million to his mother, according to Black Millionaires.
Jackson is one of the most explosive players to ever play the quarterback position. He won the NFL MVP in 2019, his second season in the league. Injuries have been an issue for Lamar, who finished the past two seasons on the sidelines. He missed the final six games this past year with a PCL sprain, according to NFL Network. He has dual-threat abilities that set him apart from other quarterbacks in the league. Keeping him helps Baltimore maintain its status as a perennial contender in the AFC.
