Atlanta Couple Drown In Puerto Rico While On Vacation

A respected high-school principal and his lovely wife, who was a college professor, drowned while during a weekend getaway in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sunday.

Jamar Robinson, principal of Westlake High School in Fulton County, and AnnMari Robinson, college professor at Georgia State University has been identified as the tourists who perished.

According to reports, it appears that the couple were in the water at the beach behind their hotel, when a whirlpool and currents of warter allegedly dragged AnnMari. Jamar went after her to save her but both died in the incident.

Authorities were alerted to the situation at around 3:08 p.m.

Several people who were in the place tried to rescue them, but it was not possible. Paramedics gave them first aid, but it was unsuccessful.

The couple leave behind their two sons, ages 14 and 15, including a boy with special needs, who are now staying with relatives.
