Antoine Fuqua Set To Direct Michael Jackson Biopic
The story of multi-award-winning singer Michael Jackson is getting prepared for the big screen!
Last year, it was revealed that Lionsgate will be releasing the biopic– but it gets better! Antoine Fuqua, who directed ‘Emancipation’, ‘Training Day’, ‘Replacement Killers’, ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ , and ‘The Equalizer’, will also be directing the much-anticipated film, Variety reported. The script is being written by ‘Gladiator’, John Logan and Academy-award-winning producer Graham King, who’s responsible for the Blockbuster hit movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. John Branca and John McClain, who serve as co-executors of Jackson’s estate, will also assist in the film.
On June 25, 2009, we were all shocked to hear that The King Of Pop passed away. The cause of death was cardiac arrest due to propofol and benzodiazepine overdose.
Fuqua is not only a film director, but he made music videos for popular artists like Stevie Wonder, Toni Braxton, Lil Wayne, and Prince. He talked about Michael Jackson and the amazing things the legend accomplished in his 50 years of life.
“The first films of my career were music videos, and I still feel that combining film and music are a deep part of who I am,” said Fuqua. “The first films of my career were music videos, and I still feel that combining film and music are a deep part of who I am,” said Fuqua. “For me, there is no artist with the power, the charisma, and the sheer musical genius of Michael Jackson. I was influenced to make music videos by watching his work – the first Black artist to play in heavy rotation on MTV. His music and those images are part of my worldview, and the chance to tell his story on the screen alongside his music was irresistible.”
Filming for the biopic will begin within a year. Casting hasn’t been revealed, but it would be interesting to know who will wear the sparkling glove.
