Anika Noni Rose and Jason Dirden announce their marriage!
The ‘Dreamgirls’ actress, 50, revealed that she and the ‘Greenleaf’ actor, 42, married in October 2022. The couple shared their news in a major way, by gracing the cover of Brides.
They had an intimate ceremony at the Paramour Estate, which she revealed only took 8 weeks to plan.
Euphoria actor, Colman Domingo, officiated the beautiful ceremony.
Anika has done various roles, including being the voice actor for Tiana in ‘Princess and the Frog’ and being a Tony award-winning actress for her role in ‘Caroline, or Change’. Jason has also starred in various projects including ‘Elementary’ and ‘Tyler Perry House of Payne’.
The newlywed shared some details about their love story with Brides:
She said it took a while for their friendship to turn into something more. The two met back in 2014 on the broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun.
“We were friends for a couple of years, actually,” Rose recalled. “We both went off and did our own things and were disconnected for a while and then swung back.”
Several years later, Dirden and Rose’s relationship grew deeper, and he proposed in December 2021 while they were taking part in his family’s annual Secret Santa Zoom.
“For the proposal, he played a video recap of their relationship, with Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me” playing in the background. He added a familial touch by including an intimate conversation with his father about “love, partnership, and [his] desire to propose,” she said.
