Family Identifies 9-Year-Old Milwaukee Girl Killed in Shooting as Jade Riser

A Milwaukee community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 9-year-old Jade Riser, who died days after being critically injured in a shooting on the city’s north side.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, Jade was shot around 11:19 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, near the intersection of North Richards Street and East Burleigh Street in Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood. She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where she fought for several days before succumbing to her injuries on Tuesday, July 7.

Jade’s family later identified the young victim, remembering her as a bright, loving little girl whose life was tragically cut short. Her death has left loved ones devastated and a community searching for answers.

Investigators have not released details about what led to the shooting, and no arrests have been made. Milwaukee police continue to search for the person or persons responsible.
