Woman, 5-Year Old Boy Drown At Home Of Former Dodgers Star Carl Crawford

A woman and a 5-year-old boy drowned Saturday afternoon in the backyard pool of former LA Dodger Carl Crawford‘s home.

TMZ states that according to sources close to Carl, the former MLB star was hosting a small gathering of 6 people at his north Houston home. (Gatherings of 10 or less are currently allowed in Houston under the stay-at-home order.) The guests included a woman and a 5-year old boy who she was watching for the day.

The source also said that Carl was inside when the young boy wandered off and fell into the pool. The woman tried to save him but was unsuccessful and she drowned as well.

Reports say that Carl tried to revive them both and paramedics used life-saving measures but the two guests eventually died.

Crawford spent 15 years in the majors and played for the Boston Red Sox in 2011 and 2012. He finished his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has since started a record label that originally signed Megan Thee Stallion. They are currently in court over contract issues.

About 6,600 children younger than 15 were sent to the emergency room on pool and hot-tub-related injuries between 2016 and 2018, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Three-quarters of all drownings in pools and hot tubs happen at home. June is the most dangerous month.
