UPDATE- Teen Who Shoved Her Friend Off The Washington Bridge Has Been Sentenced To 2 Days In Jail

Y’all remember the video that circulated the web showing a teen, Tay’Lor Smith, pushing her friend, Jordan Holgerson on August 2018 off the Washington Bridge? The choice she made to push her friend has clearly affected her life drastically.

Well, the now 19-year old has been sentenced. She pleaded guilty in hopes of a lighter sentence (preferably no jail time), but her injured friend mother, Genelle Holgerson felt as if she should be forced to spend some type of jail time. The court heard both sides and decided that Smith will be spending 48 hours in jail and once released, she will serve an additional 38 days on a work crew and will have supervised probation.

Via ABC NEWS: “A judge granted a Washington state mother’s request to lock up a young woman, who admitted to shoving her daughter off a 60-foot bridge, for “as many days in jail as her daughter” spent in the hospital. Tay’Lor Smith was expected to walk out of court on Wednesday to begin a promised plea bargain of 60 days of electronic home confinement, 30 days of community work crew and 30 days of community service. Instead, Genelle Holgerson, the mother of Jordan Holgerson, asked the judge “to force” Smith to “spend as many days in jail” as her daughter spent confined to a hospital bed, while recovering from the incident. In a surprise turn of events, the judge went against the planned plea agreement and sent Smith to jail for 48 hours. Once she completes her confinement, Smith will have to serve an additional 38 days on a work crew. The sentencing comes one week after Smith pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless endangerment, which is considered a gross misdemeanor that is punishable by up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $5,000.

Although Jordan Holgerson had a difficult time recovering from the fall, we are happy she was able to pull through it all. As far as her friend that committed the crime, do you all feel as if Smith don’t deserve this punishment? Or do you think her punishment was not harsh enough? One thing for sure, their friendship will sadly be affected by this. Let’s keep both of their families in our prayers as they go through this difficult time.
