TV Host, Jay Leno, Suffers Several Broken Bones In Motorcycle Accident
On Thursday, TV Host & Comedian, Jay Leno, revealed that he is currently recovering after suffering from several broken bones in a motorcycle accident. This news comes just months after it was reported that he sustained serious burns after his car erupted into flames on November 12th.
The 72-year-old stated in an interview with Las Vegas Review-Journal, “Just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle. So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps,”. Leno added that he’s “OK” and will be “working this weekend.”
Leno gave additional details about what had happened and explained that he was road-testing his vintage motorcycle when he suddenly smelled leaking gas:
He continued, “So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” he explained to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline me and, boom knocked me off the bike. The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.”
Leno discussed his back-to-back injuries with NBC and stated “Just had a little accident right after my other accident. It’s a 72-year-old guy driving an 83-year-old motorcycle.”
He also expressed some guilt about getting injured so soon after Grossman’s Medical Staff helped get him back in shape. “Grossman gave me a new face, and I’m going to bang this one up and I have to get another,” he said. “But luckily, I didn’t have to do that. So I’m okay.”
Back in November, Jay was working on a car in his Burbank garage when it suddenly burst into flames due to a clogged line. He suffered severe second-degree burns all over his face and upper body. Jay underwent two skin-grafting surgeries to help regenerate new skin. He was at The Grossman Burn Center for nine days. Six days after leaving the burn center, he was back performing on stage.
Jay Leno is not letting any of these setbacks slow him down! He said he will continue doing stand-up as he prepares for a venue debut. He will have a show at Encore Theater-Wynn Las Vegas on March 31.
We are wishing for a speedy recovery, Jay!
