Trader Joe’s Has Its Most Famous Employee In History. Former Cosby Show Actor Geoffrey Owens Was Seen Working Behind The Cash Register.
How many of you all remember Geoffrey Owens, the actor who portrayed Elvin from Emmy award-winning sitcom The Cosby Show? Remember? In real life he was also the son of Major Owens, a New York House Of Representatives member. Anywho, it was only a couple of days ago when Interact Theatre Productions in New York posted the Broadway veteran #GeoffreyOwens teaching “Taking the Fear Out of Shakespeare” on Thursday nights. However, it appears that Geoffrey may be making ends meet by working as a cashier at a Trader Joe’s in New Jersey as well.
An Instagram user spotted Geoffrey as he was ringing groceries up.
Of course people have been dragging Geoffrey across the interact talking about “how can a Cosby Show star go from portraying a medical doctor on television to working as a cashier/bagger at an New Jersey Trader Joe’s?
This is why. We know nothing about Geoffrey Owens life and what monetary issues he has right now. Maybe he doesn’t have ANY financial hardships. Heck. Maybe he’s portraying a Trader Joe’s employee in an upcoming movie, sitcom, or play, and he’s practicing a role? Who knows?
However. If Mr. Owens is working as an Trader Joe’s employee because this is the job that is paying his bills, then SO BE IT. We are actually even MORE proud of Geoffrey as a TJ cashier.
Do y’all know how hard it has to be for Geoffrey to work at a public store at 57 years old where people recognize him from one of the most popular tv shows ever? You have to have so much confidence in yourself, as well as a lot of faith in the future and what it will bring.
We are just in awe of this brother and the way he is keeping his head above water. He is NOT giving up on life like so many other people (entertainers) are doing. Whether its an employee at a grocery store, an instructor in an acting class, or an actor on a prime time show, we are so very proud of this young man. We will definitely be supporting him in whatever GOOD he is doing in life.
And now, you are officially in the know.
Well, he’s got to do what he’s got to do! #respect
