Tiffany Haddish, Viola Davis, Andre Braugher, Jay Pharoah, Asante Blackk, Corinne Foxx and Jharrel Jerome are set for ABC’s Live In Front Of A Studio Audience ‘Good Times,’ a live staging of the Norman Lear sitcom classics.
According to Deadline, the six will take on the roles to portray characters in the iconic sitcom. Davis and Braugher will play Florida Evans and James Evans, Pharoah as J.J Evans, Blackk as Michael Evans, Foxx as Thelma Evans and Haddish recreating the role of Willona Woods.
Jerome is confirmed to join the cast in an unspecified role. We’re speculating he will be playing their handyman Bookman…we’ll see.
Many fans were hoping that the role of Thelma Evans will be given to Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams but the role was eventually passed to Jamie Foxx’s daughter actress Corrine Foxx.
Before the cast was announced, reality show producer Carlos King called for Williams to be casted as Thelma.
Although King and many fans didn’t get their wish, Foxx is a beautiful actress and producers are showing that they’re confident she will nail the role.
As for a stamp of approval, Bern Nadette Stanis congratulated Foxx on landing the role.
Tiffany Haddish was another surprise in the casting, but she’s excited for everyone to see her bring Willona Woods back to life — sharing on social media, “This happening next week #Goodtimes.”
Additionally, ABC’s Anthony Anderson and Patti LaBelle will perform the theme song live.
“Good Times” will air Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 8 PM ET/PT on ABC. Will y’all be watching?
