Well, Thea Vidale has made it extremely clear who she was rooting for in the Verzuz Battle with Brandy and Monica. Years after Brandy co-starred on her sitcom Thea, the actress and standup comedian said that she is rooting for Monica. She then later added that Brandy and her mom Sonja Norwood showed so much “disrespect” on her show.
This prompted people to question why she’d cheer for someone who she never worked with before instead of her “Thea” co-star Brandy.
“Weeew I see you’re still salty,” one person said.
“Imagine being a 63 year old woman and still holding on to animosity that you had towards your at the time 14 year old co star? And then trying to get people to rally with her to join the hate train. How pathetic can you be?! Get a damn life!” another said. “The saddest part about this. That was over 20 years ago. You’re still holding on to that hurt from a child who was coming up and like MULTIPLE CHILD Stars felt like they were too much,” one other wrote.
Thea deleted her Twitter account but screenshots of her responses were captured.
Thea added, “Your favorites can be wrong sometimes,” she wrote. “Stop being selective about that, just because you like a celebrities [sic[ work ! ! We are all humans who do sh-t that we need to be checked for, sometime !!!!”
According to Madame Noire, Sheryl Lee Ralph reportedly wrote in her book Redefining Diva, that she had some issues with the work environment created by her co-star during Moesha. Brandy admitted in a past VIBE interview that she and Countess Vaughn bumped heads behind the scenes of the show despite playing best friends on it (with Countess allegedly calling her the b-word to her face). And recently, Howard revealed that she and Brandy didn’t get along because of the “Freak Like Me” singer’s involvement with Boyz II Men’s Wanya Morris, whom Brandy dated and collaborated on “Brokenhearted” with. All three women have stated, and now Thea too, that despite prickly moments with the singer, they all consider her to be incredibly talented.
