‘The Young And The Restless’ Star Jerry Douglas Dead At 88

On yesterday evening, we mourned the death of one of the most famous icons in the soap opera era. Veteran Jerry Douglas, who is best known for his character, John Abbott, in the long-running drama The Young And The Restless.

Douglas died on Tuesday after “a brief illness,” according to his representative, just days shy of his birthday on Nov. 12. The wealthy character of John Abbott had been going strong for more than 30 years as a chairman for Jabot Cosmetics.

Through the years, the actor appeared in a lot of big movies too. This includes having roles in movies like “JFK,’ “Good Guys Wear Black,” “Avalanche,” ‘Head Over Spurs in Love,” ‘The Godson,” and the blockbuster classic “Mommie Dearest.”

Many of the celebrities from The Young And The Restless wanted to share their memories of Jerry via Twitter.

Another actress that play on The Young And The Restless, star Lauralee Bell, posted back in October where they celebrated Jerry by having an early birthday lunch.

One thing for sure is that Genoa City would never be the same.

Douglas leaves behind his wife of 37 years, co-hosted of the Hallmark Channel show Home & Family, Kym Douglas, a daughter Avra, and two sons Jod and Hunter.

Rest in paradise Mr. Douglas.
