The First Day Of We Rise Is Filled With Speakers, Poets, Testimonies, And Flawless Performances By Common And Ty Dolla $ign.

Being from North Carolina, we never had the pleasure of being apart of LA’s We Rise program. We Rise is sponsored by the L.A. County Department Of Mental Health and it usually goes on for 10 days.  Featured those ten days are different kinds of events, musical performances, poets, speakers, and world famous artists all taking the stage for one reason.

We Rise started off with a POW with artists like Indian artist Raja Kumari. Kumari, who’s just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, actually debuted her new single called “I Did It.” The song was so catchy and the audience caught on rather quickly.

Then we had Ms. Yashi Brown who is the daughter of Rebbie Jackson. Rebbie is the oldest sibling of the king of pop Michael Jackson. Yashi talked about her struggles with mental illness and claimed that public health helped her more than any private facility.

Oh yea….and then there was rapper/motivational speaker Common.

Did we mention rapper Ty Dolla $ign blessed us with his presence too?

And let’s not forget, we had three surprise guests on opening day. Scroll down to find out who they were and to see a few snapshots from this magical evening.
