“‘Ma and pops, I’ll see you all Sunday and I jokingly said, ‘You better make sure you’re on time for morning worship. He said, ‘I’ll be there pops. I’ll see you then.”

These are the last words that Jemel Roberson’s father heard out of his son’s mouth.

Jemel Roberson is the security guard out of Robbins, Illinois who is being remembered as a hero. The 26 year old was shot to death by a police officer after he mistakenly id’d him as a gunman who fired shots inside the establishment. What the po po didn’t know is that our guy had already detained the suspect.

Because of all this, Jemel lost his life by the very police officers he was trying to work with.

Investigators are still trying to figure out the bits and pieces of this case. And many people are upset because it’s taking so long for the police officer who shot Jemel to be identified publicly.

There is a bright side to all of this though. This case has touched the hearts of so many people around the world. One in particular is Grammy award-winning rapper Kanye West.

So much so, that he gave $150,000 to the family of the murdered security cop.

“Kanye West was deeply moved by the story of a Chicago security guard who was murdered by the cops after he subdued a gunman … and has stepped up big time to help his family.

West heard the story of Jemel Roberson — who was gunned down by police after stopping a drunken man with a gun — and wanted to do whatever he could to lessen the burden on his family. West donated $150,000 to Roberson’s family Friday, the goal originally placed on a Go Fund Me Account for Roberson’s family was $10,000. 

As we reported … Roberson was working security at Manny’s Blue Room Bar Sunday around 4 AM where several drunk customers were ordered out. One of those customers returned to the bar a short time later with a gun and opened fire.

Reports say Roberson returned fire, subdued the gunman and held him at gunpoint until police arrived … but when the police officer got to the scene, he shot Roberson, killing him.

Kanye has spent a lot of time in Chicago over the last few months.

As for Roberson … reports say he was working extra shifts at the bar in order to have some extra money to provide for his son at Christmas.

His killing is still under investigation.”

Way to step up Kanye! Anything to ease the burden of Jemel’s parents, girlfriend, infant son, and unborn child is greatly appreciated.

We’re told Roberson was a force in Chicago Gospel Music scene. He was a musician who often played the keyboard or drums at local community events. He was also the organist at the New Spiritual Light Baptist Church in Chicago.

No doubt he will be missed by all of the worshipers who attend the same churches and musical programs. No doubt he’s playing and singing for the Heavenly choir right about now.
