Teyana Taylor will be taking on the role of playing legendary singer Dionne Warwick in an upcoming biopic.

While appearing on an episode of the Tamron Hall Show, the 32-year-old multi-talented entertainer revealed that she would be portraying the music icon in a new picture. Teyana also told the host that production on the project has already started and is currently underway.

‘We’re already working on it,’ the dancer — who choreographed the music video for Beyonce‘s Ring the Alarm — said in a clip shared to Billboard. ‘We’re in the building process right now.’

Two years ago, Dionne hinted that a biopic telling her story was ‘in the works;’ however, a title nor release date has been announced yet. She also shared on Sherri 5 months ago that the biopic was actually a bio series.

‘I always wanted to make sure I could lock in with any person that I would be playing,’ Taylor said during the interview with Tamron Hall. She shared that her inspiration for the role was Angela Bassett’s portrayal of Tina Turner and Jamie Foxx as Ray.

‘I miss when movies were like that — when you got to really get to know them and tap in,’ she said. 

Her goal for the series is to make Dionne proud and to tell the hitmaker’s story correctly. ‘She’s had a wonderful career, and I think right now is about making her feel as safe as possible to tell her story,‘ the New York native said, explaining that she wants to do Warwick justice.

Teyana currently has a film out in theaters entitled “A Thousand and One,” which has scored a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so I’m sure she will do an amazing job in this bio series.
