Taraji P. Henson Joins “Abbott Elementary” As Janine’s Mom
Taraji P. Henson is making a special guest appearance on the hit show Abbott Elementary, as Janine’s mom. The show confirmed the news at Paley Fest LA, which took place at the Dolby theater over the weekend. They also shared it in a tweet on Saturday.
For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Abbott Elementary is sitcom created by writer, producer, and actress Quinta Brunson. It stars Brunson as Janine Teagues, a positive second-grade teacher at the poorly funded Abbot Elementary, a fictional predominantly Black school in Philadelphia.
Also starring in the show is Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, William Stanford Davis, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
Not only does the sitcom dominate in rating numbers, but has had numerous awards to following its success.
The show has also picked up several Emmys including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Sheryl and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Quinta.
