Tamera Mowry-Housley is trading in her familiar television roles for a white coat as she joins the cast of ABC’s Scrubs revival for its upcoming second season.
The Sister, Sister and Twitches star has been cast as a guest star in Season 2, where she will portray Dr. Steffie, a pediatrician at Sacred Heart Hospital. According to the casting announcement, Dr. Steffie will try to convince medical trainee Tosh, played by Ava Bunn, to pursue pediatrics as her specialty.
Mowry-Housley’s appearance comes as the beloved medical comedy continues its revival following its return to television after a lengthy hiatus. The original Scrubs premiered in 2001 and ran for nine seasons, following the lives, friendships and challenges of doctors, nurses and other hospital staff.
The revival brings back several of the show’s most recognizable stars, including Zach Braff as John “J.D.” Dorian, Donald Faison as Christopher “Turk” Turk and Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid. Ava Bunn, who joined the revival as Tosh, has also been elevated to a series regular for the second season.
Other returning cast members include Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley, Vanessa Bayer, David Gridley, Jacob Dudman, Amanda Morrow, Layla Mohammadi and Michael James Scott. Rachel Bilson is also returning in a recurring role, while Scott Foley and John Higgins are among the additional actors joining the season.
Season 2 will continue following the doctors at Sacred Heart as the longtime characters navigate life as experienced physicians while helping guide a new generation of medical professionals.
The new season is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with two episodes airing back-to-back. New episodes will also be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ the following day.
For Mowry-Housley, the Scrubs role adds another television credit to a career that began with her breakout alongside twin sister Tia Mowry on Sister, Sister. In recent years, she has also become a familiar face in Hallmark productions, including the Haunted Harmony Mysteries franchise.
Now, fans will get to see Mowry-Housley step into the halls of Sacred Heart Hospital as Dr. Steffie—and potentially help shape Tosh’s future in medicine.
