Earlier this month, T.I. caught the world by surprise by revealing some very private information regarding his daughter and he received a lot of backlash from it.

The rapper/actor suggested on a podcast that he routinely checks his 18-year old daughter’s hymen to ensure her virginity is intact — while in the past, has made it clear that he doesn’t mind his sons being sexually active.

Obviously, Deyjah was embarrassed by her father’s comments. She unfollowed him on social media, blocked him, and then eventually deleted her account all together.

So now, Tip has to do some damage-control. The Grammy award-winning artist appeared on Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s Red Table Talk with wife Tiny Harris to clarify his comments by saying that it was a tasteless joke and that listeners misunderstood his tone.

“Let me go set this record straight, I never said I was in any exam room, that is an assumption, that is a falsity. I never said that it was being done present day as an 18-year-old and I never said that her mother wasn’t present. Her mom was present every time,” he said.

T.I. added that Deyjah had consented to the procedure at the time, though she was understandably humiliated when he spoke about them publicly.  “I understand it and I am incredibly apologetic to her,” the rapper emphasized.

Well, hopefully T.I. has learned a lesson regarding this experience and we’re glad to hear that he did apologize to Deyjah. It’s good that the ladies of the Red Table Talk were able to give T.I. some advice on women and raising daughters.
