Studying While Black: A White Yale Student Calls The Po Po On A Fellow Black Student Claiming She Wasn’t Suppose To Be There.

Is it ever gonna get any better over here. Racism is alive, well, and thriving since 45 was seated in the oval office. This time the location wasn’t at Starbucks or not even on the highway. This incident took place at one of the most prestigious colleges in the country. Yale University is in the news this morning after one of their white female students called the police to remove another female student. Let me add, the student was also female. But the difference between the two is that the unwanted student was black. Apparently the caller didn’t believe that the African American young lady studied at Yale, so she decided that she wanted to have her removed immediately.

It’s a familiar story. A black person is minding their own business. A white woman notices them and calls the cops.

The latest event in a long historical pattern took place at Yale University this week (paywall). A black graduate student, Lolade Siyonbola, was taking a nap in her dorm’s common room on Monday night after an evening writing papers. A white woman who also lives in the dorm noticed Siyonbola sleeping, told her she was not supposed to be there, and called campus security. “I have every right to call the police. You cannot sleep in that room,” the woman said in the first of two Facebook videos posted by Siyonbola.

The fallout is captured in a 17-minute Facebook video posted by Siyonbola, which now has more than 600,000 views. She shows the campus officers her room key and unlocks her apartment; the officers press her to produce identification, while Siyonbola questions whether the request is justified. Once the officers verify her identity, they leave.

So many questions I have concerning this blatant racism. One of the first questions I have is why were the campus police called? Why not just called the Resident Advisor or someone who’s in charge of the dormitory? This person could have easily verified.

And also? Why did it take so many cops to confront a young black woman? Finally. Why is this African American woman being asked so many questions after she has already proven she has an apartment there? Thank God for all of these smart phones, because all of this corruptness is being exposed.

Shame on you Yale security, and go kick rocks Sarah Braasch. You’re 43 years old….you should know better!
