Singer Jaheim Arrested For Animal Cruelty, Accused of Starving 15 Dogs, 1 Dead

R&B singer Jaheim, real name Jaheim Hoagland, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. According to a report, Jaheim allegedly starved and neglected 15 dogs – one resulting in a death.

Jaheim has been charged with third degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal after over a dozen animals were found in and around his home.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey, the Hillsborough Township Police received a report of a “puppy in distress” on Monday.

Upon arriving at the singer’s residence to investigate, officers report having found six dogs being kept in dirty, partially flooded animal crates in the home’s driveway.

“One of the dogs located was initially unresponsive in a water-filled crate and subsequently had to be euthanized,” the Prosecutor reported in a public statement via Facebook.

Jaheim was placed under arrest on an unrelated probation violation warrant. Upon searching his home, they heard additional dogs barking inside the residence.

They found 9 additional dogs in separate crates, all partially flooded with water and feces. Two dogs were transported to local animal hospitals for immediate treatment.

“A total of twelve mixed breed Pitbull Terriers, two American Staffordshire Terriers, and one mixed breed Boxer were recovered,” the prosecutor’s office reports.

The dog who was euthanized was a mixed breed Pitbull Terrier.
Jaheim is currently pending a court hearing.
