Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles is revealing details about a frightening incident that occurred during her final months living in the Chicago area.
In a TikTok video shared September 21, Biles said three masked men came to the home she shared with her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, and stole her Porsche GTS. The Olympic gold medalist made the revelation while explaining why she was shopping for a new vehicle.
“During our last few months in Chicago, three men in masks came to our house and stole my Porsche,” Biles said in the video, adding, “Stole the GTS.”
Biles did not disclose the exact date of the incident or provide details about how the men entered the residence. She also indicated that she may eventually share more about what happened, referring to the full story as something for another time.
Porsche Was Recovered
Although the theft left the couple without their vehicle, Biles confirmed that the Porsche was eventually recovered.
She wrote in the caption of her TikTok video, “yes we recovered the car, onto the next.” Despite getting the vehicle back, Biles said she was ready for a replacement and began shopping for a new car.
During the video, Biles discussed test-driving other vehicles before ultimately finding another Porsche that caught her attention. She said the experience of having her previous vehicle stolen was part of the reason she wanted to move on to something new.
The Incident Changed Their Approach to Security
Biles also revealed that the incident influenced a decision she and Owens made regarding their home security.
The couple got a Doberman, which Biles said was one of the reasons they decided to bring the dog into their household.
“The things that happen to me are absolutely insanity,” Biles said, joking that her life could easily become a reality television show.
The burglary occurred while Owens was playing for the Chicago Bears. He has since signed with the Indianapolis Colts, and the couple has moved on from their Chicago residence.
The incident was not the couple’s only recent encounter involving an attempted theft. Earlier this year, Owens said someone attempted to grab his shopping bag while he was in Milan during the Winter Olympics.
At this time, the identities of the three masked men have not been publicly disclosed, and authorities have not released additional details about the reported burglary.
For now, Biles is keeping much of the story private while moving forward with plans for a new vehicle.
