Sherri Shepherd Finalizing Deal To Be Permanent Guest Host On ‘Wendy Williams Show’

Sherri Shepherd has been tapped to become the permanent guest host on the Wendy Williams Show, according to reports.

The actress and TV personality hasn’t made a formal statement yet but TMZ and Deadline sources say she’s in the middle of finalizing a deal.

The Wendy Williams Show has had multiple guest hosts while daytime talk show host Wendy Willams recovers from symptoms of Graves’ disease and thyroid issues.

In the deal, Sherri is offered to take reigns of the show until September. In the meantime, show execs will monitor Wendy’s health progress. If she’s not ready by September, the show may be renamed after Sherri.

If Wendy returns, it will mark her 15th season. She stepped away from the show back in October due to Graves’ disease complications and after contracting COVID-19. Although the show is saying this is the reason why she’s absent, several sources (including Wendy’s staff) say it’s due to alcoholism.

Wendy has been open about her struggles with alcoholism and substance abuse in the past but she hasn’t confirmed if she’s currently struggling with it.

Fans became concerned when Wendy was seen slurring her words and acting absent-minded on an episode of her show back in October 2020. Wendy addressed the concerns by saying, “I’m not perfect.” She’s also been opened about her Graves’ disease diagnosis, which can cause cognitive impairment.

Wendy’s last appearance on her show was back in July 2021. Sherri has guest host several times along with other celebrities, including Remi Ma, Fat Joe, and Michael Rapaport. Now it looks like Sherri will be landing a permanent gig.
