Samuel L. Jackson And Wife LaTanya Make Largest Spelman Alumni Donation In HBCU’s History

Samuel L. Jackson and his wife LaTanya Richardson are giving back to their alma mater. The Hollywood acting couple donated $5 million to Spelman College in Atlanta, to go towards the John D. Rockefeller Fine Arts building renovations.

The donation is reported to be the largest amount donated by an alumni in the HBCU (Historically Black College and University) community.

It’s been said that Jackson and Richardson, who are both Atlanta University graduates (Jackson from Morehouse and Richardson from Spelman), has been wanting to do this for a while.

Renovations will include removal of asbestos, improving the building’s handicap accessibility, upgrading bathrooms and dressing rooms, as well as the ventilation system.

The project will begin in the spring of 2022, and the 57-year old building will be renamed LaTanya Richardson and Samuel L. Jackson Performing Arts Center.
