Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson are being honored for their humanitarian work with one of the HollyRod Foundation’s most distinguished awards.
The legendary couple will receive the Clarence & Jacqueline Avant Humanitarian Award at the HollyRod Foundation’s annual gala, taking place November 7 in Los Angeles.
This year’s gala is themed “Action in Motion,” reflecting the foundation’s focus on turning awareness into meaningful support for families affected by autism and Parkinson’s disease. The HollyRod Foundation was founded in 1999 by actress and activist Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL player Rodney Peete.
The Clarence & Jacqueline Avant Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals for their philanthropic efforts and community impact. Previous recipients have included Naomi Campbell, Viola Davis, Don Cheadle and Bridgid Coulter.
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson have built a decades-long partnership both personally and professionally. Samuel L. Jackson is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors, with a career spanning films including Pulp Fiction, Jungle Fever, Do the Right Thing, the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Richardson Jackson is an accomplished actress and producer who has also been active in theater and the arts.
The couple’s recognition will be part of an evening featuring several other honorees whose work and experiences connect with HollyRod’s mission.
Former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green will receive the Matthew Thomas Robinson Courage Award after publicly sharing his experience with early-onset Parkinson’s disease. Maureen McCormick and American Airlines customer care manager Bruce Sickler will receive the Angel on the Path Award.
Camille Joy Robinson and Love on the Spectrum star Tanner Smith will receive the HollyRod Hero Award, while Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández and his wife, Jennifer Hernández, will be recognized with the HollyRod Champions of Belonging Award.
Holly Robinson Peete said the honorees have demonstrated the spirit of this year’s theme through actions benefiting their families, communities and the families served by the foundation.
The HollyRod Gala serves as the organization’s signature fundraising event, helping support its efforts to provide resources and assistance to families navigating autism and Parkinson’s diagnoses.
For Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson, the evening will provide an opportunity to be recognized not simply for their accomplishments in entertainment, but for their contributions beyond the spotlight.
