Rockmond Dunbar Sues Disney and 20th Television Over ‘9-1-1’ COVID Vaccine Mandate

Actor Rockmond Dunbar is taking Disney and 20th Television to court.

The former 9-1-1 cast member abruptly left the show over the COVID-19 mandate. Dunbar is accusing the production companies of discrimination–based on his race and religion.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Dunbar says he was the only Black actor on the show and his dismissal severely damaged his career.

Dunbar claimed he submitted paperwork seeking both a religious and medical exemption for the COVID-19 vaccine. He states the producers wanted him to remain on the show and assured him that they will accommodate him.

The docs say that the plan was to have his character’s storyline show him temporarily leave the show, but his return never happened.

Dunbar also said the producers didn’t honor his vaccine exemption requests and made it seem like he’s an anti-vaxxer. He claimed the studios fired him in retaliation and refused to pay him the hundreds of thousands of dollars he says he’s still owed.

He also claimed this made him get a bad rep in Hollywood and made it hard to find work.

A rep for 20th Television provided a statement.

“To ensure safe working environments at our productions we have implemented a mandatory vaccination confirmation process. While we will not comment on any one individual, each request for exemption is given a thorough review and we grant accommodations consistent with our legal obligations. There are no differences in our process or decision-making based on an employee’s race.”

Dunbar is going after the studio for money, and he wants an injunction barring studios from discriminating against anyone based on race or religion when it comes to vaccination policies.
