Regina King’s Son, Ian Alexander Jr., Has Passed Away By Suicide
Ian Alexander Jr., son of Academy Award winning-actress Regina King, has died at the age of 26-years old.
According to Love B. Scott, a close source said Ian died Friday–2 days after his birthday from an apparent suicide.
Regina shared a statement with PEOPLE.
“Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian. He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”
Ian was Regina’s only child, whom she shared with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr.
Ian, Jr. was also a part of the music industry. He announced on social media the last few days that he has new music dropping. His latest single “Green Eyes” was released Friday.
He also had an upcoming show at the Bardot in Hollywood Jan 28.
On Regina’s 50th birthday last year, Ian, Jr. shared a tribute post for his mom.
“Happy birthday to my co, so extremely proud of you and inspired by your love, artistry, and gangsta! To be able to watch you take this lifetime by its neck and make it yours is something i will forever be grateful for.”
