Ambush Shooting At House Party In Inglewood Kills 4, Injures 1

Four people killed and 1 person injured during an “ambush-style” shooting at a birthday party in Inglewood.

According to reports, the shooting happened Sunday around 1:30 a.m at a short-term rental home.

Friends were at the house to celebrate the birthday of 20-year-old Breahna Stines, who was one of the victims shot and killed. Her 25-year-old sister Marneysha Hamilton was also murdered, along with two of their male friends. They were identified Monday by the L.A. County coroner’s office as Jayden Griffin of Gardena and Teron Whittiker Jr. of Torrance, both 21.

“We hear the shots,” the neighbor said. “At first I thought it was firecrackers but then I thought ‘This sounds like war.’”

Michelle Fahmy, a neighbor in the area said she heard at least 30 pops, and just a minute later, she heard the sirens.

Authorities were called to the scene, where they found three victims dead. Two others were found injured, one of whom died during transport.

The fifth victim is in critical condition but expected to survive. The survivor admitted to being gang-affiliated in another city. Authorities believe the shooting was gang-related but haven’t confirmed if the surviving victim was the target.

Investigators are searching for multiple suspects.

Inglewood Mayor James Butts remained at the scene through the night. He described the incident as the worst single shooting crime in Inglewood since the 1990’s.

Community advocates who joined the family members outside of the scene of the incident say they won’t rest until justice is served for the five victims.
