Description

The fraud worked as Milli Vanilli became a global sensation scoring three No. 1 hits in the US and winning the best new artist Grammy before the Recording Academy revoked the trophy in 1990 when the truth was revealed by Farian.

After Arista Records dropped the act, Rob & Fab released an album, which only sold around 2K copies despite positive reviews.

Filmmaker Simon Verhoeven said in a statement ‘Girl You Know It’s Trueis captivating on so many levels.’

He added, ‘It not only tells the spectacular rise of two underdogs making it to the zenith of showbiz within one summer, it also gives a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of that illusory world of fame and its sometimes tragic and unscrupulous machinations. Personally, I think Rob and Fab did not deserve to become the sole scapegoats of this scandal.’

Filming will take place in Munich, Berlin, Capetown, and LA through December.

A release date hasn’t been revealed yet. In the meantime, enjoy Milli Vanilli’s most recognizable hit, “Girl You Know It’s True.”
