Sister, Sister star and 90s group Immature singer Marques Houston introduced the world to his baby girl Zara.

The singer and actor shared a series of photos on social media of his newborn and his then-pregnant wife Miya Dickey Houston.

Miya told US Weekly that she chose the name Zara because it was exotic. Marques added, “She just wanted our girl to have a memorable name that wasn’t the average name.”

He said being new parents “feels surreal” for both of them. “It hasn’t set in yet that we are actually not just baby-sitting one of our friends’ kids,” he said. “But not getting any sleep definitely reminds us that we are now parents.”

The couple chose not to share to the world that they were expecting, perhaps due to the backlash they received last year regarding their 20-year age gap.

Marques had to defend his relationship with Miya when they announced their engagement. He stated, “I met Miya in 2018 through a mutual friend. Never before then did I even know she existed.”

“All the rumors about me, none of it is true,” he continued in his Instagram post. “And that’s the story. No twists, no turns, no scandals, just true love. 

Marques and Miya tied the knot August 2020 in California.
